St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights, CA, was tragically destroyed by an arsonist’s fire the week before Easter in 2011. A much beloved Bigelow tracker pipe organ was lost in the fire.
Soon after the fire, Church Keyboard Center provided a temporary two-manual Rodgers organ, which was installed in the Parish Center and subsequently moved to a larger temporary structure, where the parish has been holding masses ever since.
As plans for a new, larger church building developed, Church Keyboard Center worked with the parish staff and the architects to plan an organ for the new worship space. Early in the process it was determined that a pipe organ, or even a hybrid organ, was beyond the resources of the parish. The plan focused on a new three-manual Rodgers Artist 599 organ finished with European Beech to match the wood interior of the new church.
The new Rodgers 599 was delivered just prior to Advent 2017, replacing the temporary two-manual organ in the temporary structure. Plans are being finalized for the permanent organ installation in the new building in Spring 2018.
