Installed in June 2013, the Rodgers Infinity four-manual 84-stop organ with six ranks of pipes is an exciting addition to the organ program at the Azusa Pacific University School of Music. The APU organ program, headed by Dr. Janet Harms and one of the largest in Southern California, focuses on training organists for church ministry.
The APU School of Music is the only music school in Southern California with a four-manual practice and recital organ on campus. “Our organ students now have the advantage of training on a state-of-the-art pipe and digital hybrid organ that gives them unlimited creative possibilities as they learn repertoire and develop service-playing skills,” said Don Neufeld, Interim Dean of the School of Music.
The APU installation is an upgrade from a three-manual 54-stop Rodgers organ that was donated to the University in 2000 and is the first four-manual Infinity Series organ to be installed on a university campus.
Church Keyboard Center of Pasadena, CA, accomplished the installation and will support the APU organ program with special workshops on creative uses of the features and 442 voices available on the Rodgers Infinity 484.
