From the Spanish Gothic Chapel of the Sacred Heart to architect Frank Gehry’s post-modern Chapel of the Advocate, Loyola Marymount University boasts some of the most beautiful and engaging worship spaces in all of Los Angeles.
In March 2013, Chapel of the Sacred Heart took delivery of a Rodgers Infinity 3-manual organ. “Father James D. Erps, Director of Campus Ministry, worked closely with Church Keyboard Center Tonal Director Dr Robert Tall in choosing the new Rodgers Infinity organ to enhance the worship experience in the Chapel, which is the spiritual center of the campus,” said Nelson Dodge, President of Church Keyboard Center
The Rufatti pipework visible in the rear area of the sanctuary was originally located behind the crucifix as part of the previous organ. The installation of the Rodgers Infinity organ included moving and reconfiguring the pipework in two “flower boxes” on each side of the sanctuary.
Sunday and weekday Masses, as well as ecumenical services, are celebrated regularly on campus. All worship services are open to alumni and the general public.
Developed with Rodgers’ new Natural Pipe Realism technology, the sound of Infinity Series organs is simply glorious. The Infinity Series, based on Roland’s powerful SSC technology, delivers the most authentic pipe organ sound available in a digital organ. The specification spans various tonal genres, providing extraordinary musical expressiveness and versatility. Rodgers’ unique sampling process with up to eight microphones captures exquisitely detailed pipe organ sounds. With state-of-the-art Dimensional Sound Placement technology, the distribution of the sound creates an unprecedented level of realism.
