Church Keyboard Center is pleased to present Thomas Schuster in concert on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 3 pm at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Glendale, California. Schuster took first place at the first-ever Rodgers North American Classical Organ Competition earlier this year in May.

Schuster won the First Place prize in the inaugural Rogers organ competition, which was held at Kutztown University with an audience of students, faculty and organ music fans from several states. Dr. Ina Grapenthin, Kutztown music professor, was the presiding judge, joined by judges and organ experts, Dan Miller from Beaverton, Ohio, and Dr. Robert Tall from Glendale, California.

Shuster, 32, is a church organist and music director in Miami. He has a Bachelor of Music degree from Wayne State University, where he studied with Ray Ferguson, and an M.M. from the University of Houston, where he studied with Robert Bates.

“We’re so pleased to be presenting Mr. Schuster in his first public performance since winning the Rodgers Organ competition,” said Nelson Dodge, president of Church Keyboard Center. “The Rodgers Organ competition and performances like this are an important part of developing and showcasing young talent that will carry forward the art of this great instrument,” noted Dodge.
